Recently, we had the opportunity to work with a company to solve a major challenge related to email security. We take you behind the scenes and explore how Proofpoint's email security solution transformed their infrastructure and their security.
The challenge: They faced a continuous flood of fraudulent emails, including sophisticated phishing attacks and a staggering amount of spam. These attacks, sometimes highly targeted, demanded heightened vigilance from employees. For example, one person fell victim to a phishing attack in which a fraudster posing as the CEO managed to obtain $2,000 under the pretext of a corporate gift. In addition, more elaborate fraud attempts, such as spoofing the sender's email address, were also detected, highlighting potential gaps in the company's internal processes.
The solution: This is where we proposed implementing Proofpoint, an external tool with a complete email security solution that integrates with the Microsoft email platform. Using technologies such as DKIM, SPF, and DMARC, along with advanced filtering and URL defense features, we were able to effectively detect and block email security threats before they reached users' inboxes. By working closely with our partner, we customized the solution to specifically address the company's unique challenges.
The results: The implementation of the Proofpoint solution was spectacular. By going from 400 phishing emails detected per day to 0, we improved their email security posture, reduced the risk of cyberattacks, and cut the time it took users to sort through all those fraudulent emails. Moreover, by strengthening security awareness through training and phishing tests, it was possible to reinforce their defense against threats.
